OCTOBER 6-12: “I Will Order All Things for Your Good”
Come Follow Me Doctrine and Covenants 111-114
'Be thou humble', we are taught. (D&C 112:10-11) Yet, the lesson goes further--that in our humble little place we may be able to make a difference where someone we esteem as better or more important cannot reach.
As a young mother I came to a crossroads--wanting to make a difference in this world, and finding the place that I would matter. I was blessed with the answer: that if I didn't take care of my family as mother and wife, no one else would or could. That was where I mattered most. I'll admit, it felt a bit deflating, wanting to feel more important than that. Yet that was the direction I followed, believing that what I did in my little vineyard meant more than anything else I could give the world.
Be Thou Humble - Sarah Morgann with Marvin Goldstein
What the world has been given, with little thanks to me, are beautiful, smart, incredible people who call me Mom and Grandma and honey, and are spreading their influence in countless places.
In the beatitudes we find a beautiful pattern of how our humble little efforts magnify; wherever we are led, wherever we can reach.
Lead Me Lord - John Becker
Isaiah speaks of the stem of Jesse (Isaiah 11), of a rod and branch and root. It is generally understood that in whole they refer to Jesus of Nazareth, Christ and Savior. While the rod and root suggests a servant in the latter days, I will hold that the servant serves the master, the rod and root nourish the stem. So it is well enough to put them as one, think of Christ Jesus - the stem of Jesse, foretold to come through David's line in the meridian of time, His power to come again in latter days, to gather all from the four corners of the earth into one.
Notice the beautiful, haunting artwork with this next video. I wish I had information on who gets credit for that.

Now as I see the reach of where I matter expanding, I can't help but marvel at how our world is within reach of our own door like never before, and yet so turbulent. Turbulence seems to be a recurring theme of mankind; can we ever find it resolving? I believe that we need the Prince of Peace more than ever before. And maybe He needs us to do our little parts, promoting peace, reaching wherever we can. Song and the arts is a good way to reach, especially where it can be so easily accessed worldwide.
Thank you artists! Thank you, thank you! For spreading love and peace.

What's within your reach? What little thing can you do to promote peace?
