JUNE 9-15: I Am with the Faithful Always
Come Follow Me Doctrine and Covenants 60-63
"And now, verily I say unto you, and what I say unto one I say unto all, be of good cheer, little children; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you." D&C 61:36
It's not uncommon for me to wonder if what I'm putting my efforts into really matter. Those doubts were going through my head, debating on whether my works were only for me, or if God is in them enough to bless my efforts to perform them. Then I came across this song, and through Brian Wilson saying the very words in my head my faith is given a boost. Thank you Brian, for performing your good work, your God work.
Great Work - Brian Courtney Wilson
Storms come, doubts fester. Peter's flailing in his attempt to walk on water teaches that as we keep our focus on the one who has control over all creation, we are lifted. Even in times where we don't recognize his hand, he never fails us.
Master the Tempest is Raging & He’ll Carry You - Hilary Weeks
"For I, the Lord, rule in the heavens above, and among the armies of the earth; and in the day when I shall make up my jewels, all men shall know what it is that bespeaketh the power of God." D&C 60:4
You are on my side - through crashing waves, fire and thunder.
Faithful God - I AM THEY
Now let's look behind us. What have our past generations given that still stand with us today? What was sacrificed for their building? In looking back we also turn forward, filled with gratitude. Let's pay that forward.
Edify. That word has been on my mind. Does what I indulge in edify? The music I listen to, shows I watch, words I speak? Do I feel uplifted, or are they degrading? That has become my watchword in selections I make.
Our good works come in our own way, our unique flavor, and it's good when they bless ourselves as they bless others. We recognized them as good because they edify. Our Father is surely pleased with our efforts for good. And we may never realize how far our works will reach.
The Building - Emily Ann Roberts
How blessed to have a partnership in our works. I don't want Him to be only a silent partner - I want to hear His guidance. And very often it comes through others' good works. That I share here with you.
