An interesting promise given to those who are in the Lord's work: "Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; And if any man lift his voice against you he shall be confounded in mine own due time." D&C 71:9-10

Psalm 121 is known as a song of ascents, looking upward to where my help comes from, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Weapons surely take many forms in the many trials and hurts we face, yet this promise isn't only for our success in this mortal life, but in our full life. I like the perspective given in Beetlejuice: "Life is short. Afterlife is a long, long time."

Earthly trials serve to break us down, to refine us, for us to learn Godly traits; we are not forsaken by heavenly parents, but to become more like them.
