JUNE 2-8: Anxiously Engaged in a Good Cause

Come follow Me Doctrine & Covenants 58-59

"Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness; For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward." [D& C 58:27-28]

I really like to know that whatever good we feel called to do is blessed. We don't need to wait for the assignment to come from someone else.

When we feel our small amount is not enough to make a difference, then without too much effort we can find others to engage with, to share our goal.

It is astounding: all the good works being done in this world. I invite you to pay attention to them and get involved. What a strong antidote for depression or being overcome by the negative works so often found in the news!

"Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation." [D&C 58:3]

We are promised that tribulation will come, generally while we are trying to do good things. Apparently, there's an obnoxious adversary that doesn't want us to be successful in doing our good. It's also interesting that you can gauge how much what you are doing matters by the tribulation thrown at you in the endeavor. A heavenly Father allows trials because he believes in us! He knows we can do hard things! We can overcome the darkness.

Singing the blues doesn't hurt, a perspective we can all share.

Zion - the township of God's people. Where is it? Well, we are given the charge to build it. So then, Zion is wherever we are working in that endeavor.

I want to honor those who commit years of their lives to the call given to serve as missionaries, spreading the good word where they can, building Zion with those they serve.
