JULY 24: PIONEERS
Wayne Burton's beautiful tribute to our Pioneers is a great place to begin. We are reminded that those who believe they are on the road to something greater are willing to sacrifice all to achieve it, even if those to see the promised blessings aren't themselves, but those who come after them. And that is us.
One by One: A Tribute to the Pioneers - Wayne Burton
Gena Hill reminds us that Pioneers are still on the trail today. It's probably us.
What do you load in your wagon? If you're wise you have tools, seeds, and provisions enough to keep you for a time after you reach your destination, because it will take some time to plant, build and grow a harvest.
Modern Pioneer - Gena Hill
This song learned as a child rings true even more for me today. Keep the wagons rolling, I ain't done yet. Some days seem to repeat in monotony, and then surprises happen - for good or bad, small or huge - fill in my story and make the journeying worthwhile.
Covered Wagons - LDS Primary Songs Sing Along
Now let's have a little fun on the trail, because singing as we go cheers each step. These songs from years ago offer the sounds of the wheels continuing round and round as we keep on walkin' along.
Wagon Wheels (1959) - Sons of the Pioneers
At the end of the day, let's sit around the fire and sing some more, be reminded that we are on this trail with some good friends, and to enjoy our journey together.
The Covered Wagon Rolled Right Along - Tennessee Ernie Ford with Robert Horton
In all we do, let's keep on trekking, believing that we are heading for a blessed home ahead.
