AUGUST 25-31: “Receive of His Fulness”
Come Follow Me Doctrine and Covenants 93
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," the Apostle John writes. We are taught that the Word is the 'Messenger of Salvation, Light and Redeemer of the world, the Spirit of Truth', 'Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, even the Spirit of truth, which came and dwelt in the flesh' 'among us'. D&C 93: 8-11
'And I, John, saw that he received not of the fulness at the first, but received grace for grace;' 'until he received a fulness." D&C 93: 12-13
Grace to Grace - Hillsong Worship
'Ye were also in the beginning with the Father." D&C 93:23
What does that mean? It means we've been there all along. It means that just as the greatest of us grew into himself step by step, grace by grace, we likewise are coming into our fulness in the same manner, even if we're awkward through it.
Jacob of old received a vision of a ladder, or a stairway reaching to heaven. This is a common idea with us today, and we can determine the steps that will lead us upward. Be kind, be patient, be humble. Above all, love. Just as we are loved from above.
Stairway to Glory - Memory Memories
Climbing this stairway or ladder is our process of being made. I have found some steps are very difficult. And I have fallen. We will fail, we will be broken. The amazing thing to me is that we matter so much. Our Father is not going to just let us flounder and leave us broken. There must be something very important about us and what we are being made into.
Broken Ladders - Selah
We had a short visit with Tyler this week. Tyler is of the age where his children are now growing into adulthood, and he is diagnosed with a cancer with no cure. He reports that the experience through these past months has served to strengthen the faith of his children, rather than to weaken it. How beautiful to be able to see a divine hand through our trials, and to find the strength offered. To feel our Father's and Mother's love. To know there is a home for us beyond here, yet still connected to those we love here.
As a friend Kevin always said, it's all about love! Love is the answer.
Heart of God - Zach Williams
I don't know why God loves me. I don't know why He loves you. But somehow we must be worth His love. And that gives me reason to try again. To turn to Him again.
